Marine electrical installations

Pine has been executing marine and offshore EPC projects  since 1994. During the course of the last years, Pine’s marine department has carried out more than 50 marine electrical installations on a turnkey basis.

Our vast experience and expertise allow us to offer a comprehensive service taking the technical specification and layout of the vessel or offshore platform as a starting point. The services listed below can also be executed independently, depending on the particular needs of each client.

  1. Marine electrical engineering
  2. Manufacture and supply of electrical equipment and navigation consoles and machinery
  3. Erection and marine electrical installations
  4. Mechanical completion, commissioning and sea trials assistance of the vessel or offshore platform
  5. Electrical project presentation and definition to the Classification Societies

In general, this kind of electrical turnkey projects also includes the supply of transformers, cables, lighting units, internal communications, tank levels, fire detection and prevention systems, alarm systems, and so on.

Pine carries out comprehensive electrical projects in the offshore field. Besides the development of the electrical works, we have the knowledge and experience to manage the following services:

  • Marine logistics
  • BIMCO contracts
  • Port-ship-platform coordination, platform assistance services, bunkering, ship management, waste management, port personnel, etc.

Taking the technical specification and layout of the vessel or offshore platform as a starting point, Pine executes comprehensive marine electrical installations. In the first place, we carry out the following activities:

  • Basic Engineering: Single line diagram of the electric plant, load balance, study on short-circuit, selectivity, electrical arc, lighting calculation, etc.
  • Development Engineering: Sizing and trays’ and racks’ routing design in 2D and 3D using FORAN. Design of marine electrical equipment, navigation consoles and machinery using E-PLAN. Electrical diagrams, equipment arrangement lay-out, signs list, etc.
  • Production control: During the erection and installation stage, we monitor the progress of the installations remotely. Pine has its own software, designed to control the evolution of the facilities and the development of the electrical maintenance.
  • Communication and security systems: Internal and external communication projects, CCTV, access control systems, etc.

In addition, we carry out the engineering, design and manufacture of electrical equipment. We provide with switchboards of high current levels and breaking capacities, up to 6000A and 100kA in low voltage switchboards and up to 4000A and 50kA in medium voltage switchgears.

The quality of our products is backed by the tests carried out, the certifications obtained and, among other things, the design of our own metal sheet. This provides Pine’s switchboards with robustness and adaptability. As a result, we are able to design electrical equipment for any kind of vessel or platform.

  • Main switchboards, control motor centers, navigation consoles, low voltage process stations.
  • Main switchgears up to 24kV.
  • Fully equipped containers in which any kind of electrical equipment can be integrated. Portable electrical shelters for offshore platforms.
  • CCTV solutions, communication and alarm equipment.

Moreover, we carry out the electrical erection and assembly of all kinds of vessels and offshore platforms.

Pine’s scope includes the following Works in this area:

  • Project management and supervision
  • Electrical metal sheet assembly
  • Electrical equipment assembly and installation
  • Low voltage and medium voltage marine electrical installations, instrumentation, telecommunications, security systems, etc.
  • Wiring, continuity testing, megger testing, etc.

Apart from Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning, we perform the following works prior to the delivery of the marine electrical installations.

  • Documentation and assistance to Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Sea trials
  • Procedures for commissioning and maintenance
  • Hydraulic tests
  • Flushing
  • Retrojetting
  • Blowing
  • Pigging
